Analyst – Forensic & Data Analytics (FDA)

The FDA Analyst will support the development and maintenance of a data analytics and continuous audit program, support for Internal Audit Project Assurance Teams, and for leading proactive and integrated fraud prevention, detection, and investigation programs. This role forms part of a new team that aims to support the overall effectiveness and impact of the CIMIC Internal Audit Team.




Data Analytics & Continuous Auditing

  • Design, run and interpret reports that use data to identify ways to detect and prevent control lapses and potential risks by leveraging information in the Company’s data assets.
  • Support the development of a continuous auditing program that identifies control lapses and out of pattern transactions, allocates exceptions to relevant management and tracks resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the design and operation of the system of internal controls 


Data Analytic Support for Internal Audit and Project Assurance Teams

  • Design and run reports that use data in operational systems for use by IA/PAT teams
  • Design and run reports that use data in financial systems for use by IA/PAT teams


Fraud Detection & Prevention, Forensic Support

  • Design, run and interpret reports that use data analytics to identify ways to detect and prevent fraud by leveraging information in the Company’s data assets
  • When commissioned by management, design and run reports that use forensic data techniques to support investigations into allegations of irregular conduct 



  • Support the FDA Manager in the production of monthly and quarterly reports for senior executives detailing outcomes of FDA work


Competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience with data mining or business intelligence
  • Advanced Excel skills and proven ability to utilise data analytic and presentation tools such as Power BI, ACL, IDEA and others
  • Proven ability to develop programs, methodologies, and analytical products such as reports, dashboards, visualisations, and algorithms for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Familiarity with information technology solutions and ability to work with IT in designing reports and extracting data from various ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards and/or SAP is considered a strong advantage
  • Proactive with a desire to continuously improve processes and procedures
  • Multitasks, prioritises and meets deadlines with high attention to detail for data integrity and the ability to track down data inconsistencies
  • Proven ability to effectively work across teams at all levels and across functions
  • Self-starter with proven ability to successfully work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accounting or Programming qualification
