Senior Analyst - FP&A

The CIMIC Group, a market leading ASX Top 50 listed company, has an opportunity based in Sydney for a Senior Analyst to join the FP&A team. The Senior Analyst will support the provision of accurate, timely and transparent information about financial performance of CIMIC Group and its Operating Companies’ (“OpCo’s”) business to enable CIMIC Senior Management’s to make informed business decisions.


Main accountabilities:

  • Deliver accurate and timely key insights and recommendations to senior management, for decision making purposes, for the OpCo’s responsible for.
  • Preparation of quality financial variance analysis to Senior Management in relation to actuals, budgets, and forecast, for the OpCo’s responsible for.
  • Support the business planning, budgeting and forecasting cycle working in conjunction with the OpCo Finance Teams to deliver the required quality outputs to the Group FP&A team, for the OpCo’s responsible for.
  • Deliver quality monthly and quarterly management reporting for Senior Management and Audit Committee.
  • Consolidation of the Group FP&A monthly deliverables, for example segment, work in hand and net contract debtors.
  • Quarterly preparation and review of reporting to Hochtief and ASX.
  • Partner with key OpCo stakeholders to provide value added support and guidance.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reporting/analysis as required.
  • On-going monitoring of contract risks and opportunities.
  • Support the GM FP&A and Manager FP&A in the development of a best practice CIMIC FP&A function that works as a true business Partner with the OpCos.
  • Contribute to the development of BI dashboard reporting and further enhancements to system led change, in conjunction with the system accountants.
  • Identify opportunities to improve forecasting and business planning processes, to achieve greater accuracy of rolling forecasts and outlooks.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-8 years in Finance / Accounting / FP&A experience, of which minimum 2-3 years in a FP&A position, would suit a second mover
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance / Accounting
  • Strong systems skills, experience in Oracle BI advantageous
  • Advance excel user
  • Further qualifications (e.g. CA, CPA)
  • Services/Construction/Mining industry experience advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial metrics
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills with a focus on solution-delivery
  • Strong interpersonal management and communication competencies
  • High systems affinity
